Nice VHF opening

Post by w9wi »

Woke up around 8:00 this morning to find ABC 33/40 Birmingham blasting in. (on 33. 40 doesn't do nearly as well & I've seen the channel 58 transmitter in Birmingham precisely once)

Things got gradually better with some pretty decent signals from Meridian, Miss. , then Jackson & Hattiesburg, and finally New Orleans made an appearance before it all disappeared around 11.

Three new DTVs in the log:
WBBJ-43 Jackson, Tenn. (only 107 miles away but only went full power a few weeks ago)
WGBC-31 Meridian, Miss.
WTOK-49 Meridian, Miss.

I told the Insignia STB to save WGBC; it did, and now I have *two* channel 30-1's programmed into the box. WGBC, virtual channel 30-1 and RF channel 31, and local WUXP, virtual channel 30-1 and RF channel 21. This morning I could switch between the two by hitting channel-up/channel-down.

Had weak digital signals on RF channels 18, 25, 26, 29, 32, 35, 39, 41, 43, 45, 52, and 59

Maybe the most interesting logging was WRNO-99.5 New Orleans, stunting (I presume!) as "Rush Radio" with old Rush Limbaugh reruns.
