Business cable

What do you folks think about Comcast Business Class?

We're looking at expanding our pipe. I've spoken with a number of guys & get two answers...
- It's great!
- Don't do it!

I've got no experience shopping for this kind of thing for anyone except myself...

They are wildly variable depending on the market. Where I'm at they can't do more than 6 megs and do not allow servers, and can't seem to find my address in their database even though the building has been here since 1927. Everyone else on the block that's tried them has gone back to AT&T DSL. In some other places they seem to do a decent job. Whatever you do, don't sign any contracts with them. Ask for a 30 day trial where you can get ALL of your money out if it does not perform as you require, and beware of hidden charges like "additional outlet" fees and the EMTA you'll have to rent to get phone service from them. Those fees are not part of their advertised prices and are non-trivial.

I've never had a problem with it, despite me harboring ill feelings towards communicastcast's cable tv (kept the internet, got directv for video). In this area, it's 20 meg burstable (I think some areas are now 50 meg burstable). All of my previous facilities used comcast. Right now I use comcast as the backup link for the stations (the router sets the routing cost higher for comcast, so if the primary ever fails, it automatically reroutes through comcast).

But with fios being available, I think fios would be a better choice all around for the speed/price. I just don't have any experience with their reliability.

I suspect that depends upon the history of the system. If it is an old Comcast system it is probably okay. If it is a former Adelphia system all bets are off - some of those are okay, and some are abyssmal.
