Firefox problems

Am I the only one having issues with Firefox these days? Lots of script errors, and CPU usage.

Kent:

I have firefox 3.5.3 on xp home on two laptops and I have noticed a problem on the Road Runner Site with both Firefox and the latest Internet Exploder. When I try to access some news videos that are located down page on the lower left side of the page, the videos won't load, and I do get a script error. Other that that specific area, everything else works perfectly on both browsers.

Could you have contracted a V I R U S ???????

On all of my computers, including work? I scan for viruses every day to boot.

The only other thing it could be is "bad karma".

Can you direct me to an area where you experience the script error so I can see if my Firefox does the "sam ting"???

Kent:

I just got a call from a local computer expert and I asked him iffen he'd heard of the problem. He said he had heard of several web sites that were running into script errors not only with Firefox, but with one version older of IE. He said that the sites were running Unix. I now this is kinda vague, so I'll keep digging to see if there are any other reports.

How much memory is devoted to the display adapter on these systems?

I've got two here with puny video display memory (16 MB) and Firefox 3 pretty much locks up with any video content, and slows to a crawl with large still pictures. This is not unusual on older systems. My trusty old Pentium 4 2.4 GHz with 32 MB video RAM barely gets by.

I'm running 3.5.3 on this Lenovo laptop but it's got a 2.8 HZ Core2Duo and half a gig of dedicated video RAM. No issues on that.

Try disabling all of the plug-ins and add-ons if you haven't done that yet. Some of them are real CPU hogs and the latest update could have cause compatibility issues.

I haven't seen issues here, but then again, I mostly run Safari.

Well one of the computers is an Acer One, another is a Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with 2 G of Ram (on board video), and at work I have a Pentium 4 3GHz with a Gig of Ram, but it is using the on board video card.

At times it is like Firefox locks up.

Is there any particular content that does it?

Not sure yet. It seems weird... I am beginning to think it is related to some java scripting. This morning it just sat there, I could not scroll nor enter text. Eventually (about a minute later) I could scroll and type into a web page. Sometimes I get script errors asking me if I would like to end the script.

Kent:

You may be on to something with the JAVA comment. I've done more checking and find my ACER ONE is working OK, but the Toshiba laptop isn't. My problem seems to exist only on the Road Runner home page when I attempt to view the videos on their site. All other sites work OK on the videos. Weird!
