Tektronix DS-1001G Question

Postby Radio Ranger » Mon May 03, 2010 6:02 pm

I got a donated NTSC demodulator to ship to Guatemala for a missionary friend there. It's a Tektronix DS-1001G. Nice little box, but I can't reconfigure it for a different channel. An error message keeps popping up that tells me the front panel is locked. I downloaded the Tek manual for the beast, read it, used the Adobe search function for obvious words like locked, security, etc but no mention of locking the front panel, security codes, etc. I opened the box up, hoping to find some sort of header/jumper for security, but no luck there either. Any ideas?

Sounds like a keyboard lock... maybe holding display or enter (or both at once) or something similar will unlock it?

From the Tektronix website

How do I lock or unlock the front panel on a DS1000 series television demodulator?

Press the DISPLAY key until the text "FRONT PANEL LOCKED" or "FRONT PANEL UNLOCKED" appears on the LCD display. Then press the arrow keys in the following sequence: up, right, down, left, then enter to lock or unlock the front panel

The information in this FAQ applies to:
DS1002, DS1001A, DS1001G, DS1001

From the same link...

The lock/unlock sequence is given on page 2-13 of the user manual (P/N 071090502)

You mean the original manual didn't have an added insert sheet that suggested you write it in a safe place?
