Are there any Nexio server gurus on here?

Postby Gert B. Frobe » Tue Apr 27, 2010 10:08 pm

I have an interesting issue with our Nexio server. When we transfer a few shows from our Pathfire server to the Nexio, the colosed captioning is garbled. However this only happens when we play the shows back on one of the 3601 Nexio boxes but if we play it on one of the 4000 Nexio boxes, the CC is fine.

Anyone had a similar problem and if so, what did you do to fix it? This is driving me crazy.

No nexio, but experience with all sorts of crazy captioning issues...
What are the differences between those two modules?

The difference between them is: The 3601 box is HD and the 4000 is SD.

The shows come in on the Pathfire as SD but 16:9 and are being played out to air on the 3601 in 4:3. I tend to think that when the file is flipped from the Pathfire catch server to the Nexio, the CC is being garbled then. If I do a base band recording from the Pathfire to the Nexio, bypassing the flipfactory completely, and then have the Master Control Operator go in and segment the show like it was dumped into the Nexio from tape, the CC is fine. But we shouldn't have to do that. It should work and so far neither Pathfire nor Leitch (the makers of the Nexio server) are willing to admit that the problem could even possibly be in their stuff.

Make sure the FlipFactory is setup correctly. I'd call Pathfire on this and ask for a level 3 tech right out of the box.
They might have a fix for it.
