Okay, TV guys, not a technical question but more or less a matter of symantics.
With all newscasts, why does a news cast always go in this order?:
1) News stories
2) The Weather
3) Sports
Every newscast that I have ever seen always follows that order. Why do they do that??

Ratings! It's all about the ratings. Milwaukee is a metered market. Watch any of the stations, with the exception of CBS 58, and you'll notice that weather almost ALWAYS hits after xx:18. This is because that once you go over :20, you've won the half-hour. And since people watch mostly for the weather, no sense in putting it up where people will watch and then turn off, and therefore cost you a ratings point.

Back home (NY DMA) it was always Weather-tease, News, Sports-tease, News, Weather, Helicopter-shot-for-no-reason (sometimes simultaneous with Weather) News Sports Weather News News Sports News Weather News News Weather Sports News News Update Weather News Update Weather different-Helicopter-shot-for-no-reason News Weather News News top-of-hour repeat. (or something to that effect)

That's called a morning show! Just replace "Helicopter-shot-for-no-reason" with skycam for us.

We solved that problem by leasing the helicopter instead of buying it.
GM uses the same words "We paid how much for that helicopter???" but his meaning is drastically different

I still find it completely hilarious that they show standard radar images from their "Doppler [very large number ending in a large number of 0s here]" and rarely (if ever) a doppler rendering.

Wasn't there a station that had the Super-cali-fragilistic-expi-ala-Doppler? Or something like that? I remember a video floating around YouTube. Ours has just been "Super Doppler", though, that might change with the elimination of 27 Weather Central, and the move to 27 Storm Track.
