BE FM 5A IPA Need and or FX 30/50

Postby musiconradio.com » Thu Mar 29, 2012 1:59 pm

Good afternoon all,

I am looking for the IPA for a BE FM 5A and (or) a FX 30/50 exciter. If anyone has suggestions for a good substitute for the IPA it would be appreciated.

Thank You

Do you have a dead BE IPA or are you missing it entirely?

I have replaced them with Armstrong amplifiers. They're a bolt-in upgrade. And it is an "upgrade", particularly if you had the blue IPA drawer with no parts availability.

Alternately *warning, shameless sales plug follows*, assuming the original IPA had a 50 ohm output, one of our VS series transmitters (probably the 300W?) would replace both exciter and IPA. It wouldn't mount in the FM5A, so you'd need to consider airflow in any upgrade - possibly leaving the original pieces in place but disabled.

Just a thought </shameless sales plug>

Damon, we talked on the phone yesterday about an entire FM5A you wanted to 'part out'. I'll discuss this next Tuesday with my GM, I think we'll be able to get this done.

It might - those BE transmitters were standard rack width, the exciter and the IPA were each, IIRC, 3 RU high, and both were quite deep, perhaps at least as deep as the VS300, which is about 25" deep.
