I have a client that is about to replace 2 OLD installations of WaveStation with Simian. Surprisingly, the WaveStation has been running fine for many years... I have quite a number of Simian installations but this one will be fairly unique.
They are wanting to do remote as well as local voice tracking on both systems. I am proposing a new production installation to handle the VT duties but have never used the remote software to do VT. They do not now and probably will not have pro sound cards in the near future. Any experience with this?
Anybody doing remote VTing?
Can you use a non-professional sound card at the remote end?
Can you use 2ea consumer sound cards to do VT locally? IE, one to play the segue cuts and one to record the VT?
Thanks in advance.

Simian uses the software that comes with the recommended Audio Science sound cards to do segue. I suspect with simpler sound cards you will not be able to talk up to the post with your voice tracks, but will have to be content with a simple sequential operation.
