Sometimes, Murphy's Law is the engineer's worst nightmare...

OK So tonight, I get notified that the fire alarm announce-panel is beeping in the lobby. I get to the panel it says "dust alarm - smoke detector RM117, server room".

So I called the alarm company, they said we can come tonight or tomorrow, so i said, come tonight, we need to clear this alarm. Time of that phone call. 9:12pm.
Now mind you it has been beeping since probably before 9, its just I noticed it then...

well, alarm company pulls up, 10:26, on call guy. Just as he opens the door to his van, sure enough... Fire Alarm goes off! Yes 10:26. Right in the middle of the newscast.
It had been beeping dust for over 100 minutes, and go figure, in the middle of the newscast, it sets the alarm off. I yelled to the guy to run and silence it. But as it was, it was too late.

Fire department comes, the whole 9 yards. (We dont have keys to our alarm panels, only the fire department and the licensed alarm guys do).

Watch it for yourself. (Requires windows media player or something that can play .asf files).

Heh. Your anchors are pros! Didn't miss a beat when the alarm went off.

Don't happen to have the director's track from this show do you? Would LOVE to hear that!

The requested URL /etc/WNAC-DT_2009-06-01_22_25_20.asf was not found on this server.

Can you double check on that Mike ?

Mike is in the process of changing web servers, so it may be down for a little while. His past server company is giving him headaches. Try again in a few days.
